The Window of Tolerance, from Stephen Porges' Polyvagel Theory, says there is a zone that is optimal for our nervous system to be in. We manage stress well while here, are chill and can experience our emotions without dissociation and overwhelm. Sounds like a good thing to know about in life, right? Yup!

Some terms you might want to reference:
Ventral-when you are in the window of tolerance, you're nervous system is chill, you are relaxed, receiving and welcoming.
Dorsal-the response that is collapse, includes fear, looks like dissociation and is the freeze response
Sympathetic--the response is activation, includes fear and is the fight or flight response
